Should, or rather, can a photo tell a story?

The ‘collection’ of images is the black hat in this reflection. In a world dominated by photographs, hard drives filled to their digital brim and gallery collections, books and artists’ archives tend to dominate our man-made visual space.

Almost everyone is a writer, a photographer, an artist, and everyone is a DIY practitioner in assorted phases of destruction/construction.

Years fade
wisdom earned, hopeful
be at the markt gate
cash to the brim
hear the remnant coin rattles,
making music on their own

Today, another 20-years later, a colourful and cheery Arline graces us with her uplifting presence.

The machine at the time was intriguing yet foreboding, quite probably as it was elevated in the house-come-storefront and gleamed in the window. To a child, it resembled a robot.

Where, if any, is the ethical or socially responsible line? Is there a line? Do we need to tell that story? In all cases, I do it to share my experience, but are there times when an image is inappropriate to share?

Each image I offer, then, is in itself an elucidation, including all steps in its evolution

What fascinates me is when a few ladies gather on a narrow street, seated on chairs brought out from their entryway and work together to conjure their best versions of homemade pasta.
